Shopping Hiatus

Sale going on everywhere! Why did I ever imposed on MYSELF a no shopping spree for the next three or so months!? Well, I will just tune in my desperation for shopping to cooking or baking. Hubby's birthday is coming up and I am planning to try new dishes for his big day! Good luck to me as I invited the in-laws. They surely know I don't cook :D

Contentment

Funny how some people wants other things in life when some people wants what they have. Classic example are how some Caucasians (white people) wants a nice tan while those who are already tan wants to have a nice white skin (hello glutathione). I know a Caucasian who's married to a friend and whenever they are here for vacation, the Caucasion always wants to stay outside to get a tan. They even bought an outdoor chaise lounges for personal use at home. Talk about having something what others want.

As for me, I love what I have. I have a fair colored skin and I don't worry getting a little bit more brown. As a matter of fact, I like getting a tan every summer time, a remembrance that I had fun during summer vacation. :)

Better IT Security needed

I waas once a victim of Phishing but admittedly, I knew I was hit big time. It was actually a mistake on my end since I have been warned about this modus operandi before plus the fact that I am in IT. It was the case of being absent minded and multi tasking that I didn't see the signs at once. I actually had a hint, an instinct telling me something is wrong but since I was doing many things at the same time, I disregarded that instinct. It didn't cause me much since it was my IM account that was attacked. Thankfully I was able to contact the company to report what happened. But since it was a weekend, it took days before I was able to retrieve my account. Unfortunately, there were other people from my list who were less knowledgeable about this stuff who got victimized by my "false" identity.

I learned my lesson and I think this curriculum, online MS in Information Security, offered by Lewis University will help more people know and learn more about Information Security. It's just that, one may have this information as a positive way of protecting oneself or the opposite, getting the information as an advantage of going around what he knows about. Right?

Til Debt do you part?

I am an abiding credit card holder. I pay my debts on time to prevent from incurring interests. Not to mention that some credit card companies’ computation are sometimes high.

I have never experienced anything bad with any credit card companies. I have heard so many horror stories specially with regards to dealing with debt collection agencies. I do not plan to deal with them anytime soon or in the future. I will not succumb to being a credit card slave for the purpose of buying or paying things in advance in case I do not have money at the moment. Unless perhaps in emergency cases (emergency meaning, medicines, hospital bills, etc and not shopping emergency cases :D)

Anyway, I just use credit card to earn points and limit myself from bringing cash every time I am going out. I love to do cashless transactions. If not for points, I would rather use my debit card. It also a way for me to control myself from being a shopaholic, since I do not usually bring cash with me, it is like not having money at all. I still have time to pause and think if it is a need or just a want. Unlike when I was still single, I buy anything I want as long as my salary can afford it.

the pre-need status

Before I left for a vacation, there were news about some pre-need companies that are somehow, lets just say that it is the focus of attention of the public that time. There are lots of people concern specially with their educational plans since these are hard earned money invested in good faith to these pre-need companies. I for one is worried for the future of our educational plan for our little one. I don't know if the case is the same for online life insurances. I hope that in time, specially for the future generation, everything will be settled down.

I notice recently, I keep on receiving mails about web directory submissions which i do not fully understand. I am more of afraid to check the site since it may just be spammers or phisher-man (corny!). Too afraid to deal with that... AGAIN! Yes, you heard it right. Had a boo-boo to think I am what you call, computer literate. I just wish I follwed my instinct. I already noticed something odd but still did what I did. o well, lesson learned!

Next Stop!

So before we left EU last week, the brother was telling me his "debut" plans for his birthday next year. He plans to celebrate it in the US and having a cruise. He is actually inviting me or making us go there next year to celebrate with him. I said no since my little princess is going to school starting next year and his birthday falls on July, second month of school here. Unless school starts September or December and we have a budget for that + visa, malay natin! :D

Something weird

I have been trying to lose weight since who knows when. I even started quitting rice since Holy week and eventually, I see result. Well, that is according to my clothes, specially my pants.

The other day, I was able to remove my pants without unbuttoning it! Imagine that! What is weird is, when I try to check my weight (using a scale of course), nothing changed! Not even a single pound! I Wonder what happened to those fats found in my belly. Transferred somewhere else? Kataka taka naman! Maybe I need this Kettlebell to really see a change. Easy to say but hard to do! pft!

Blogs and Ads

Want to make money blogging? I did! I started in 2008 while others i think started in 2006. Those who started in 2006 were the lucky ones since there are few bloggers who go into this business. Though I have been blogging since 2004, never really occurred to me that I will go into this one. It was all worth it as I was able to buy a new laptop last year, paid my annual insurance this year and save some which all of it I mostly earned last year, before the recession. Yes, even I was affected by the recession.

I guess blog advertising is becoming an effective means of making people know of ones product. I for one use the internet most of the time and try to look for reviews from other blogs and comments. I think it is pretty easier this way.

Knowledge and data information went better with the boom of technology, the net in particular. But the sad thing about this one is the lost of business for some books like the encyclopedia and atlas since information contained here are digitally available already. Who needs the books in the library when all things are available already anytime you want it. Plus the fact that it is much easier to find stuff compared to the library. Except perhaps those old published books and news clippings which probably are not yet converted to an electronic or digital information. And perhaps for those who still prefer reading from actual books than reading it electronically, the library is still one of the best place for them, the book lovers.

All in all, I appreciate what blogging and the net can offer. I enjoy sharing and reading information from bloggers, editors, writers all over the world. Just wishing that some make sense at all.
